Let’s see if I can get through this post without crying, because I’m already feeling all the feels! To start I’ll say I was a little worried because good ole Michigan was calling for storms, but thankfully we were gifted with a 95 degree day instead. Despite the heat, I had been looking forward to this wedding for such a long time. It’s always been a dream of mine to shoot at the beautiful and unique Packard Proving Grounds. I even arrived almost an hour early just to take a look around! Afterwards I headed over to the hotel to take photos of Michelle and her ladies getting ready. Upon arriving, Michelle (COOL AS A CUCUMBER) and the girls were relocating to a new room since the AC had broken in theirs. Tears started flowing when she began to put on her jewelry, I think this was the moment it became really real that she was going to marry the love of her life. Of course I was crying right along with her! Her bridesmaids did such an amazing job throughout the whole day making sure her makeup stayed perfect after all the emotional moments, and fixing her dress and hair as needed. They’ve all been friends since high school!!
Back at the Proving Grounds, we ran into a small delay because of traffic, but Doug arrived just in time for the most emotional and adorable ceremony I’ve ever been a part of. My absolute FAVORITE moment from the entire day was just after Michelle had walked down the aisle – Doug was still crying and the officiant (their good friend Lynn) handed him a handkerchief and asked him if he was going to be okay. He replied, “I can’t help it, she’s just so beautiful!” Their tear-filled vows to each other had the whole room sniffling and laughing, especially when their ring exchanges ended with, “No take backs!”
The night ended with some hilarious speeches from their best friends, a beautiful sunset on the Grounds, and a ton of dancing! The look on Doug and Michelle’s faces while they danced was what I imagine pure joy looking like. They spent the whole day literally doing mini-happy-dances because they were so excited to be getting married, and every time I turned around they were kissing! It was truly an honor to witness their love and even more so to be able to capture on camera. I shared a few more photos than I usually would on this blog but to echo Doug – I just couldn’t help it, they are so beautiful!
