Up until a few years ago, I bounced around from job to job, always trying to figure out where I could fit in. I was “good” at all my jobs, but never really felt like I had found my true calling. Until I became a mom! Now my life is ALL about family. I am a full-time stay-at-home to our beautiful daughter, April, who just turned two in November. In 2013, I married my best friend, Carl, and we recently moved to Holly, MI where we bought our first house! We also have 2 mini hot-dogs that round out our little family. I’m a sentimental person constantly finding little ways to let the people I love know that I am thinking of them. I twirl my hair when I’m nervous, bounce my foot constantly, and tell a LOT of stories no matter who I’m speaking to! I love country and electronic music, nature documentaries on Netflix, and I’ve been a die-hard Britney fan since I was in 6th grade. I’ll choose white wine over red, vanilla over chocolate, winter over summer, dogs over cats, putting the toilet paper roll OVER instead of under, and ranch dressing over any other condiment.
But my love for photography started before I met Carl and looong before April came into the picture. After college, I taught English in Vietnam, right in the center of Hanoi. It was there that my definition of family changed drastically! My students welcomed me into their homes and I became part of their families for a short while.
Photography allows me to continue doing that here in the United States. Every shoot I become a part of someone’s family for a short while. I treasure those moments where I not only get a glimpse into my client’s lives, but I also get to capture those moments for them to have forever. Becoming a wife and a mother has made me realize how important it is to have these memories to look back at, because life passes by too quickly!
